70 projects were implemented to the end of 2024 with a budget of 10,262,000 USD, reaching 915,000 beneficiaries through the following intervention:

·        Primary Heath Care (PHC) centers.

·        Secondary Health Care Hospitals (General hospitals and maternity and pediatric hospitals.

·        Mobile clinics.

·        Blood Banks and Thalassemia centers.

·        Prosthetic, Orthotic and rehabilitation centers.

·        Accessibility and inclusion projects.

·        Building capacity projects.

SDI, with long-term and diverse experience in the health sector since 2015, spanning primary and secondary healthcare, specialized services, emergency response, capacity building, and needs assessment that actively contributes to the development of the healthcare sector.

1-     Primary Health Care Services:

SDI provision comprehensive primary health care through their facilities aligned with the Essential Health Service Package (EHSP)), which includes:

·        Prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

·        Prevention and control of communicable diseases (CD): including early detection of CD cases to provide prompt treatment and reduce the risk of transmission within the community, implementing strict IPC measures, alerting to the Early Warning Alert and Response Network (EWARN) if necessary, and providing health education to both staff and community members

·        Provision of holistic maternal and Child Health Services include: Antenatal care (ANC), postnatal care (PNC), family planning (FP), child health, integrated nutrition services.

·        Provision of essential medicines, medical supplies.

·        Health Education and awareness activities.

·        Capacity building for health and medical staff

·        MHPSS services.

2-     Secondary Health Care and Specialist Services:

General Hospitals:

SDI has managed many general hospitals in Idlib and Damascus countryside and has been working to provide life-saving and life-sustaining coordinated, equitable health services for all age and sex groups; including comprehensive general health services.

The main activities provided through general hospitals:

·        Emergency services

·        Hospitalization services (wards)

·        Surgical services

·        Support the provision of essential medicines and medical supplies to direct beneficiaries.

·        Providing outpatient consultations 

·        Providing MHPSS services

·        Providing laboratory investigation services

·        Providing health education services

·        Providing integrated nutrition services (including screening, prevention and treatment)

·        The services also include providing Reproductive health (ANC, PNC, FP), Child health services, Management of CD and NCD services

Maternity and Pediatric Hospitals:

The main activities provided through Maternity and Pediatric Hospitals:

·        Running emergency obstetric and neonatal care unit and services (B&CEmONC).

·        Supporting the provision of essential medicines and medical supplies to direct beneficiaries; and the provision of reproductive health and safe delivery kits.

·        Providing admission services for women and children (including incubation services)

·        Providing reproductive health services B&CEmONC including IPD, OPD, ANC, PNC, Normal and C-section deliveries and pediatric services

·        Providing outpatient consultations including pediatric, gynecological

·        Providing MHPSS services

·        Providing laboratory investigation services

·        Providing health education services focusing on the maternity, IYCF, child topic

·        Providing integrated nutrition services (include secerning, prevention and treatment)

3-     Specialist health care services:

 

Blood Bank and Thalassemia Center (Afrin):

·        Provision Of Blood Products Processing into The Essential Standard Components (Platelets – concentrated red blood cells – plasma), Whole of Blood Exceptionally

·        Provision Of Blood Units Testing

·        Provision Of Controlled Blood Storage

·        Provision of thalassemia care through provides specialist services to the patients including detection services, medical consultations, medications, lab tests, blood transfusion, iron chelates infusion, and inpatient care.

·        Provision Of transportation services for thalassemia patients

Prosthetic, Orthotic, Physiotherapy, and rehabilitation centers:

·        Manufacturing and installation of high-quality artificial limbs and splints

·        Providing continuous maintenance of installed limbs

·        Providing orthopedic and physiotherapy consultations by specialists.

·        Providing physiotherapy sessions, which include educating the beneficiaries and their caregivers.

·        Donation of assistive devices and mobility aids

·        Providing psychosocial support services (PSS) and counseling to patients to suit their needs and providing referral services to more specialized MHPSS services as needed

·        Providing transportation for beneficiaries from their houses to the center and back.

·        Providing vocational training for PWDs which provides the opportunity for inclusion into society

Additional services;

Building Capacity of Health Workers:

·        In coordination with the Trauma and Disability Technical Working Group, SDI has conducted training for 120 physiotherapists and rehabilitation workers in northwestern Syria as part of a training package aimed at building the capacity of workers in the field of physiotherapy and rehabilitation to fill the gaps.

·        Also, SDI is working to build the capacity of health workers in all its facilities and has made some important basic training activities into its health projects (eg infection control and communication skills). Capacity building includes theoretical and practical training (conducted by SDI or in collaboration with partner organizations), as well as ongoing technical support and supervision of public health workers such as doctors and nurses as well as community health workers.

Accessibility and inclusion:

·        In coordination with the Trauma and Disability Technical Working Group, SDI has improved the accessibility in 20 medical facilities in NWs in addition to 2 facilities in Tell Abied-Raqa.

·        SDI works to integrate people with disabilities into society through the vocational training it conducts at the Afrin Center, by analyzing and evaluating their needs and abilities and preparing and implementing training plans. These activities contribute to the integration of people with disabilities into society and enable them to rely on themselves to earn their livelihood.
